The Forbes Magazine published an article telling how first person shooters games can help you in a multitasking environment. An excerpt:
As the authors note in the study, “Playing such games thus increases the ability to spatially distribute visual attention and to resolve visual details. As a result, when task-relevant information appears on the periphery, it is more likely to capture attention and receive the required processing.”
In other words, since first person shooters require players to notice and act quickly at new events that may pop up anywhere on screen, it’s basically training them to be better multitaskers.
