At this past midnight, Apple starts to sell the iPad 2 here in Brazil. The product comes two and a half months after the U.S. launch, with prices equal to the first version of the tablet in December last year: the cheapest of them out for US$ 1,018.00 (16 GB Wi-Fi), while the more expensive costs US$ 1,610.00 (64 GB with Wi-Fi 3G).
The iPad 2 is much more expensive in Brazil than in the United States, reflecting the high national tax burden on imported goods. While the tablet in the U.S. starts at US$ 499 (16GB Wi-Fi), here the same model is sold twice as expensive. In fact, slightly more than twice as expensive.
