Four short links: 20 March 2013

An essential reading to inspire your morning
  1. Why talk about leadership? – After reading Steven Denning’s article, “The Surprising Reasons Why America Lost Its Ability To Compete,” based on his reactions to Harvard study, my first thought was about the need to discuss leadership.
  2. BLAME THE SPEAKER OR THE ORGANIZER? – The other day, I heard the CEO of a large corporation drone on for twenty minutes. He was pitching a large group of strangers, reading them a long, prepared speech that was largely irrelevant to their needs. They weren’t there to hear him and in fact, weren’t even able to hear him over the buzz in their heads… this was classic interruption, no permission granted.
  3. Samsung: We’re making a smart watch, too – (CNN) — Apple, as the reports go, is working on a “smart watch,” although the secretive company won’t say anything about it, of course. So, after months of speculation, what does its chief rival in the mobile world do? Announce that it definitely is working on a smart watch.

  4. Iron Maiden to launch its own beer – The famed London-based band, which has been around for nearly 40 years, is collaborating with a venerable British brewery to produce its own beer, named Trooper after one of Iron Maiden’s classic songs.
